Thu, 7 Jul 2011

The annual European Urology Residents Education Programme (EUREP) is a popular event for final-year urology residents. Over 400 residents from 42 countries applied for the 360 available places on the free programme. The EUREP is one of the most popular initiatives under the banner of the European School of Urology (ESU), offering residents a complete and in-depth refresher course over six days. The 9th EUREP will take place in the Czech capital, Prague, on 2-7 September. The ESU aims to provide a wide-reaching programme for final-year residents, giving them the opportunity to work together intensively with some of the most experienced urologists in Europe. The programme acts as a refresher course, but also helps to inspire graduating residents to remain dedicated urologists. As every year, the EUREP attracts participants from a wide range of nationalities, also helping to harmonise urological education across Europe.

The EUREP is a full six-day course comprising five modules The modules cover: urological cancer; prostate cancer; andrology, stones and upper tract endourology; functional urology; and paediatric urology, trauma and infection. Each module consists of 4 faculty members who are all experts in their field. Faculty members are replaced after a fixed period. This year, the modules’ new faculty members are; Prof. Jeroen van Moorselaar (NL), Asst. Prof. Alexander Govorov (RU), Prof. Gert Dohle (NL), Prof. Piotr Radziszewski (PL) and Prof. Guy Bogaert (BE) respectively.

Another popular part of the EUREP is the Hands-On-Training, giving residents a chance to perfect their laparoscopic skills. For those who are eligble, the EBU offers the possibility to take the written part of the Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU) exam.
