This scholarship programme aims to encourage and support the young urologists to improve their skills and increase their experience in the field of endourological urinary stone management procedures namely Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL) and ureteroscopic management of urinary tract stones (URS).
With this aim, EAU Section of Urolithiasis ( EULIS) will outline 5 hospitals in Europe (as the centre of excellence in endourology) in which at least one EULIS board and/or associate member is actively working. EULIS board will outline the content of the programme in terms of training in the dedicated procedure (PNL /URS). Members of EULIS section will mainly be responsible for the continuation as well as observation of this fellowship programme in a fluent and successful manner.
The visiting young endourologist will join to all rounds, all scheduled scientific meetings, case discussion sessions held in the department and join to relevant stone related procedures performed in the department (ureteroscopic and percutaneous stone removal). Depending on the time period of the visit (1-3 months) a “working plan “ will be proposed to all visiting fellows in order to reach the aims of the programme in a successful and stratified manner. The participant will join the team as an observer, learn the procedures but will not operate him/herself.
At the end of each month, the attendant young endourologist will have a quick assessment exam by the hosting team in an attempt to outline the level of the benefit he acquired from both medical as well as surgical aspect. Upon completion of the whole programme, a certification will be made regarding the attendance of the participant to the scholarship programme.
