E-course: Surgical management of refractory ischaemic/low flow priapism -shunts and peno -scrotal decompression

The surgical management of refractory ischaemic/low flow priapism represents an exciting but controversial issue. Improving in the corporal metabolic environment and achieving sexual function represent the main targets of the surgical approaches in males with ischaemic priapism.
The role and the results of T-shunts with or without tunnelling and penoscrotal decompression in the management of low-flow priapism will be extensively discussed. Videos concerning inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) after T-shunt surgery will be demonstrated. In addition the advantages and disadvantages of early vs delayed IPP placement will be weighed. Emphasis will be given to the significance and the management of complications after delayed IPP in patients with ischemic priapism.
