In a world where the landscape of urological care spans across various nationalities, genders, religions, ages, and ethnicities, fostering a safe and respectful environment is essential. Research has shown that inclusive organisations are more innovative and make better decisions in both clinical and scientific circumstances.

The EAU is committed to fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity, and this extends beyond the confines of the office, hospitals, and clinics, to events such as the EAU Annual Congress. Delegates, faculty, suppliers, and staff are expected to commit to the EAU values, promoting an atmosphere of mutual respect and professionalism.

EAU values and expectations:

  • Treat each other with respect
  • Comply with the EAU principles of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)
  • Zero tolerance for inappropriate behaviour

What are the EAU principles of EDI?

  • Equality is the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities
  • Diversity is the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different ages, gender, and sexual orientation
  • Inclusion is the action or state of including or of being included within a group or structure

Inappropriate behaviour

Inappropriate behaviour by anyone is unacceptable and can have significant consequences for individuals. What does the EAU consider as inappropriate behaviour? We see actions that breach social norms or personal boundaries e.g. (not exclusively) offensive remarks, invasion of personal space, and harassment as inappropriate behaviour.

Reporting:

If you witness or experience any form of mistreatment, please report it to: respect@uroweb.org. This ensures that no instance of inappropriate behaviour goes unaddressed. The EAU reserves the right to take necessary actions, including denial of access to EAU events.

We all share the responsibility to maintain a culture of respect and inclusivity. Together, let’s uphold our EDI values to create a positive experience for everyone within our urological community.
