Interim HR Professional

Temporary replacement due to maternity leave – from mid-March until September 2026

Do you have experience as a self-employed HR professional and do you enjoy taking on a temporary assignment covering all the aspects of HR within an international environment? Then this role as Interim HR Professional at the European Association of Urology (EAU) might be for you!

Your responsibilities

In this interim role, you will work independently as an all-round HR professional and act as the first and sole point of contact for all HR-related matters. You will support and advise the managers and employees in our the organisation on a wide range of HR topics, primarily at an operational and tactical level, and where needed also at a strategic level.

You will report directly to our two-member Executive Management team and work closely with the Finance Manager on payroll-related matters. This is a dynamic, hands-on position combining operational tasks with coordination duties. The position is for approximately 24 hours per week and you will be working from our office in Arnhem.

English is the working language within our international organisation, as all internal communication and documentation, including policies and the staff handbook, are in English. Since roughly half of our colleagues are Dutch and we operate under Dutch laws and regulations, we are looking for someone who is also proficient in Dutch.

You are responsible for ensuring continuity of HR processes:

  • Overseeing the entire employee journey, including onboarding, career progression, and offboarding;
  • managing sickness absence registration and follow-up in line with Dutch legislation (Wet Verbetering Poortwachter);
  • supporting payroll processing, including submitting payroll changes and checking payslips;
  • ensuring personnel files are accurate and up to date;
  • identifying, handling and processing administrative HR matters and
  • dealing with employment law cases, where necessary in collaboration with external legal advisers.

What you bring

  • You have extensive experience as an interim HR Advisor, HR Professional or HR Business Partner;
  • you are familiar with AFAS and are comfortable working with MS Office applications;
  • you have knowledge of relevant Dutch employment legislation, including  the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter and employment law;
  • you are fluent in both English and Dutch, verbally and in writing;
  • you work accurately, proactively and take ownership of your responsibilities;
  • you feel comfortable working in an international environment;
  • you are able to work independently;
  • you can switch easily between different HR disciplines;
  • you are a confident and trusted sparring partner for Executive Management and managers/supervisors;
  • you are approachable, discreet and act with integrity and
  • you are available from mid-March 2026 for approximately 1–2 days per week for onboarding, and from April 2026 for around 24 hours per week until the end of September.

The European Association of Urology is a scientific urological association with currently well over 20,000 members. Members are medical professionals working in the urological field or related medical specialties. As an organisation, the EAU offers an extensive package of products and services relating to science, education and publications to their members. Almost all of the logistics related to these activities.

Currently, around 90 employees work from our Arnhem office, representing some 23 different nationalities. There are also colleagues working remotely from countries such as Belgium. English is the working language. The organisation has an open and informal, yet professional, culture.
