What’s new in male infertility?

In this UROwebinar, highly regarded experts of the EAU Section of Andrological Urology (ESAU) and the EAU Guidelines Office will share vital research and valuable insights on male infertility with you in detail. After this webinar, the participant will understand the role of sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) as a functional assay in male fertility assessment. There is increasing evidence suggesting that SDF can predict the outcomes of assisted reproductive technology (ART). However, the indications from and cost-effectiveness of the assay remain controversial, even though there is now increasing evidence that SDF measurement should be utilised in the assessment of the infertile male. This webinar will provide evidenced-based indications for SDF measurement and its utility in clinical practice.

Administration of antioxidants that protect the sperm DNA integrity may improve the outcome of ART. The presence of oxidative stress in the epididymis of oligoasthenozoospermic males suggests that outcomes of ART using testicular spermatozoa may be superior. Finally, the panel will discuss whether microsurgical recovery of testicular spermatozoa represents the most optimal method for sperm acquisition in infertile men.
