Recording: What is the situation of synthetic slings for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence?

An intense debate involves the use of synthetic slings for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence.

DurationApprox. 60 minutes

The fear of severe adverse events related to the fibrosis around the synthetic material has decreased or even banned their used in several countries. Single incision mini-slings show comparable efficacy to retropubic and transobturator mid-urethral slings. However, the amount of synthetic material in single incision mini-slings is much less. The recording wants to present the most recent comparative trials between the two classes of slings and the long-term efficacy data of single incision mini-slings. The consequences for urological practice will be analysed.
