EULIS Fellowship in Endourology
This scholarship programme aims to encourage and support young urologists to improve their skills and increase their experience in the field of endourological urinary stone management procedures such as percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL) and ureteroscopic management of urinary tract stones (URS).
About the EULIS Fellowship
With this aim, the EAU Section of Urolithiasis (EULIS) will outline 5 hospitals in Europe as centres of excellence in endourology where at least one EULIS board and/or associate member is actively working. The EULIS board will prepare the content of the programme in terms of training in the dedicated procedure (PNL /URS). Members of the EULIS section will be responsible for the continuation, as well as, observation of this fellowship programme.
The visiting young endourologist will join all rounds, scheduled scientific meetings, case discussion sessions held in the department, and relevant stone-related procedures performed (e.g. ureteroscopic and percutaneous stone removal).
Depending on the time period of the visit (1 to 3 months), a plan will be proposed to all visiting fellows to reach the aims of the programme in a successful and stratified manner. The participant will join the team as an observer and learn the procedures but will not operate.
At the end of each month, the participant will take a quick assessment exam prepared by the hosting team. This is to evaluate the level of benefits (medical and surgical) he/she has acquired during the programme. Upon completion of the programme, a certification will be made with regard to the attendance of the participant to the scholarship programme.
