Between 1979 and 1980, Dr. Pérez-Castro Ellendt invented, developed and patented the rigid ureteroscope, an instrument which revolutionised endourology and allowed access to 50% of the upper urinary tract.

Dr. Pérez-Castro Ellendt will share his expert insights during his lecture “The birth and evaluation of URS” on 17 April 2020. He stated, “Ureteroscopy is a procedure used worldwide to destroy stones, treat tumours, and extract foreign bodies. Thousands of patients have benefitted from this procedure. At UROBESTT 2020, we’ll look back at the inception and evolution of URS, reflect on the challenges that young doctors face and how to overcome said challenges.”

“Dr. Pérez-Castro Ellendt is a well-respected, seasoned urologist. We’re pleased to have him as one of our speakers and we’re assured that he’ll deliver an excellent presentation. UROBESTT 2020 will be the ideal platform for him to further enlighten young urologists,” stated Prof. Joan Palou (ES), Chairman of the European School of Urology (ESU).

About UROBESTT 2020

The ESU organised UROBESTT 2020, which will take place in Berlin, Germany from 16 to 18 April 2020. The programme will consist of diverse topics; from nephrectomy, endosurgical procedures, to surgical and ablative BPH treatment options, and many more. UROBESTT will feature the Challenger Sessions where delegates defend their know-how on selected clinical cases which can result to riveting discussions. Participants will also boost their skills in laparoscopy and endourology via the popular and well-received Hands-on Training (HOT) sessions.

“The programme will also offer delegates the opportunity to prepare for their European Basic Laparoscopic Urological Skills (E-BLUS) exam and receive guidance on how to give an impactful lecture. Also, it’s a reciprocation; the feedback from the young urologists will contribute to the improvement of the programme,” said Prof. Palou.
