3rd EMUC: 142 abstracts, 34 countries

Fri, 2 Sep 2011

The scientific programme of the upcoming 3rd European Multidisciplinary Meeting on Urological Cancer (EMUC) will feature an extensive series of state-of-the-art lectures, several exciting debates and numerous case discussions. The meeting is a true pioneer in encouraging multidisciplinary thinking and exchange of perspectives. In its third edition, the meeting has also become truly international. More than 140 abstracts were added to the scientific programme, authored by medical professionals from 34 countries.“The selected abstracts will definitely compliment the top-class scientific programme,” said Prof. P-A. Abrahamsson, member of the EMUC Organising Steering Committee and EAU Secretary General. “The issues addressed in these abstracts reflect the continued integration of multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment in urology. We are happy to see that this concept ceases to be a novelty.”

The 3rd EMUC will take place on 4-6 November in Barcelona, Spain.

It is obvious that this multidisciplinary mentality must be pertinent to the new generation of specialists working with urological cancer patients,” he added. “And EMUC contributes to nurturing this mentality in various ways.”

Seven oral abstracts were selected for presentation during unmoderated poster sessions, amongst which “Frequent mutations of chromatin remodeling genes in transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder” by Gui et al; “Phase III trial comparing long-term versus short-term androgen deprivation in intermediate and high risk prostate cancer patients treated with high-dose radiotherapy: Preliminary results” by Alvarez et al; and “Incomplete thermal ablation induces increased proliferation of renal carcinoma cells” by Kroeze et al.

Please register before 29 September 2011 for the 3rd EMUC to obtain the early registration fee.
