EUREP24 made possible for Mexican residents
I would like to begin by expressing my deep gratitude to the Sociedad Mexicana de Urología (SMU) for providing me with this incredible opportunity. Their unique partnership with the European Association of Urology (EAU) makes these enriching experiences possible for Mexican residents. I sincerely hope this collaboration continues, allowing more residents from Mexico to benefit from this exceptional learning opportunity.
The EUREP programme offers an outstanding summary of diverse urological topics, which is highly valuable for final-year residents. The presentation of guidelines, delivered by none other than the experts who develop them, provides a remarkable insight into how knowledge is shaped and turned into practice-changing statements. The academic programme is complete, delivering high-yield summaries of key aspects of urological practice.
As someone particularly interested in functional urology, I found that module the most attractive. The programme also included an interactive oncology module, where residents could participate in case discussions in a dynamic and enjoyable way. The topics of andrology, stones, and upper tract urology - often seen as complex - were brilliantly simplified, guaranteeing clarity for all participants. The first module I attended, covering paediatric urology, trauma, and infections, set the tone for the entire week about the high quality of education we would receive.
Beyond the excellent academic content, which started early with hands-on training (HOTs) sessions at 6:30 am, I also found it invaluable to exchange ideas with colleagues from all around the world. We discussed differences in urology practice and residency training across various countries. This exchange of perspectives was one of the most enriching aspects of the experience outside of the academic setting.
The social programme was equally enjoyable, with karaoke night offering the perfect opportunity to build friendships that will hopefully, last a lifetime. These connections will allow us to continue sharing insights and experiences on the practice of urology from different parts of the globe.
EUREP is truly a unique programme, unmatched by any other. It equips you with a lot of tools to build a promising future in urology. I am immensely grateful to have attended this year, and I hope Mexican residents will continue to participate in this invaluable event in the years to come.
