Interactive discussions and "face to face" debates during ESOU

Fri, 20 Dec 2013

Traditionally, the meeting of the EAU Section of oncological urology (ESOU) represents one of the largest scientific and educational meetings concentrated on oncourology. During 3 days participants receive comprehensive information about all aspects of urological malignancies. This makes the meeting very popular among young urologists and residents in particular. The lectures are provided by well-known experts in oncourology, not only urologists, but also radiotherapists and medical oncologists.

Traditionally, the meeting of the EAU Section of Oncological Urology (ESOU) represent one of the largest scientific and educational meetings dedicated oncourology. During 3 days participants receive comprehensive information about all aspects of urological malignancies. This makes the meeting very popular between young urologists and residents in particular. The lectures are provided by well-known experts in oncourology, not only ranking of urologists, but also radiotherapists and medical oncologists.

The ESOU board prepared a well-balanced scientific programme this year, targeting controversial points in oncourology, presenting recent developments and providing recommendations and diagnostic and treatment algorithms. A significant part of the programme is prepared in the form of interactive discussions and "face to face" debates.

The meeting concentrates on the younger generation of urologists. The "STEPS" programme is a great example. In this series of round tables senior experts debate selected young urologists on predefined topic. This individual approach provides great opportunities for fruitful debate.

Just to highlight something, interest will focus on the specification of the role of early prostate cancer detection, on diagnostic strategies or mini-invasive treatments for localized disease. In bladder cancer several aspects of radical surgery and urinary diversions will be debated. Special sessions will be dealing with complications of oncologic surgery and their management, with therapeutic strategies in elderly patients with urological tumours or cytoreductive surgery in advanced tumours.

I believe the meeting will bring interesting information to all participants.
