Join the Chinese International Simulation Competition for Young Urologists!

Thu, 15 Oct 2015

The search is open for two young European urologists who will join the Chinese International Simulation Competition for Young Urologists and give a 10-minute presentation on their subspecialty respectively at the IFFU International Young Urologists Subsession in April 2016 in Beijing, China. Selected candidates will receive free travel, accommodation and the chance to attend the 5th International Forum on Frontiers in Urology (IFFU).

The competition is one of the programme highlights of the 5th IFFU which will be held at the Beijing International Hotel from 21 to 24 April 2016. Under the auspices of the Wu Jieping Medical Foundation and the Chinese Urological Association, the EAU has supported the meeting’s educational and training activities, inviting European faculty members to lecture and mentor in the event’s masterclasses, workshops and plenary sessions.

“The competition focuses on simulator operation of TURP and laparoscopy and the young urologists will be competing against urologists from other urological organizations,” according to organisers.

Masterclasses on urooncology, urolithiasis, and other topics will be offered during the three-day meeting with Chinese and European faculty members leading the lectures, workshops and sessions. There will also be live surgery demonstrations on the closing day focusing on open and minimally invasive procedures such as robot-assisted surgery.

The simulation competition has attracted European participants in previous years and one of the winners was Siska van Bruwaene in 2013. “This is a great opportunity to test your skills on an international level and expand your international network,” the organisers said, adding that selected participants will also have the chance to benefit from the update lectures on various urological topics.

Interested applicants with tested simulator skills and have the time to travel in April next year can inquire or send an email to a.venhorst@uroweb.org. Please include a CV with full details and a brief motivation letter stating why you should be selected as one of the contest representatives to China.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity! The deadline for application is December 15th.
