The Leadership for Medical Professionals Course will be from 08.30-12.30 hours and aims to give expert recommendations on how to develop leadership and management skills.

YUO Chairman Prof. Michiel Sedelaar said participants will be selected on a first-come-first-serve basis for the course. “We aim to provide skills training in various areas including management, decision-making and presentation skills, among others,” he said. During EAU19 in Barcelona, many urologists attended the course and gave it a positive rating.

The YUO is working on its Personal Development Programme by organising courses that focus on management and communication skills, leadership, finances, and related topics. Part of this programme is the course on leadership meant for young urologists (45 years old and younger) and related health professionals who have the potential to be future leaders.

Eligibility requirements:

With a panel of expert speakers, the emphasis is on the development and successful implementation of a personal and creative leadership style and business strategy. Participants will learn how to become more decisive in reacting to developments within their organisation whilst acquiring effective management-skills. Applicants should have:• A letter of motivation stating the applicant’s interest for the course;• A recommendation letter from applicant’s immediate superior or supervisor;• Proven fluency in English; and• Readiness to submit essay-type articles in preparation for the course.

Prof. Sedelaar said regardless of their career plans, the course will provide participants with stimulating ideas, tips and other valuable strategies to boost one’s managerial and decision-making capacities. The YUO board will review all applications on a first-come, first-serve basis and selected participants will come from countries across Europe.
