General Open Surgery
The breadth of anatomical exposure, procedural variation, and perioperative decision-making in general open surgery underscores the need for systematic, high-quality hands-on training. Current efforts focus on radical inguinal orchidectomy and open nephrectomy, alongside a foundational set of core general open surgery skills, delivered through structured training sessions, cadaveric courses, and simulation-based learning environments.
The EAU General Open Surgery Working Group is developing a comprehensive curriculum to standardise training and ensure safe, reproducible surgical practice across these essential procedures.
