Continence Health
Continence health problems are a major health issue that affects a large part of Europe’s population, on both the personal and societal levels.
Currently there is little policy attention given to improving the lives of people living with continence health problems. This not only has a significant impact on patients and their loved ones but also national health systems, the economy, the environment and society.
The EAU works very closely with the World Federation of Incontinence and Pelvic Problems (WFIPP), representing the patients.
In 2023, the EAU, along with more than 20 other organisations, launched the Urge to Act Campaign, aimed at achieving substantial change in policies relating to continence health across Europe.
Topic Leads: Philip Van Kerrebroeck and Jean-Nicolas Cornu

Women’s health: The EAU is actively involved in all the initiatives related to Women’s Health and gender-based research.
EPC- The EAU is a sponsor of the European Policy Centre (EPC) policy paper on Women’s Health which is currently drafted (July 2025).
The EAU is cosely following the work of the FEMM and SANT Committees, particularly the report on Women’s Health Research and Access to Treatment and the development of the Own-initiative procedure on Gender inequalities in health, as regards gender-specific conditions (Procedure File: 2025/2074(INI) | Legislative Observatory | European Parliament ).
