E-course: Focal therapy: Building up the evidence
Focal therapy (FT) is a treatment strategy for localised prostate cancer (PCa). FT aims to selectively treat the index lesion while preserving healthy prostate tissue. This approach minimises the side effects associated with radical treatments such as surgery and radiotherapy. This e-course by the European School of Urology and the EAU Sections of Urological Imaging and Endourology will offer FT essentials.

Duration | Approx. 60 minutes |
Imaging is the cornerstone of (FT), from diagnosis and treatment planning to guidance, and post-treatment monitoring. An appropriate patient selection will enable effective treatment of PCa, offering oncological results comparable to radical treatments with limited impact on quality of life.
The ongoing phase III and real-life registry studies aim to provide more robust evidence that support the implementation of FT in the armamentarium of PCa treatments.
With this e-course, you will learn more about:
- The concept of focal therapy
- How to use imaging for patient selection, treatment, and follow-up
- Oncological and functional outcomes
- The study design and current status of ongoing studies
- How to manage patients with focal therapy according to real-world cases
Speakers:
- Prof. F. Sanguedolce (ES)
- Dr. E. Barret (FR)
- Asst. Prof. A. Lantz (SE)
- Assoc. Prof. G. Lughezzani (IT)
- Dr. L. Rodriguez-Sanchez (FR)
This e-course is brought to you in collaboration with the EAU Sections of Urological Imaging and Endourology.
