Three years ago, the European Union reshaped the agenda on cancer screening with the goal of saving lives through early detection of prostate, lung and gastric cancer. To make this vision a reality, the European Commission launched three pioneering projects:
- PRAISE-U – testing a personalised, cost-effective prostate cancer screening strategy using risk-based diagnostic algorithms
- SOLACE – designing comprehensive guidelines for lung cancer screening using low-dose computed tomography
- TOGAS – developing and implementing gastric cancer prevention strategies tailored for communities across Europe
As these projects reach completion, the Summit will be the key moment to share results, debate challenges, and chart the path to national implementation of new screening programmes.
Participants will:
- Learn about the findings of PRAISE-U, SOLACE and TOGAS, and discuss evidence-based implementation strategies.
- Engage with policymakers, researchers, healthcare professionals and patient advocates to exchange lessons and inspire future initiatives.
- Advance policy action with ambitious recommendations to keep cancer screening and early detection high on the political agenda.
The Summit will be chaired by Stella Kyriakides, Former European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, and David Collingridge, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet Oncology.
