Prostate biopsies are the key step to diagnose prostate cancer and one of the most performed procedures in urology. The biopsy can be performed either the trans-perineal (TP) way or via trans-rectal ultrasound (TRUS). While these procedures have the same diagnostic power, the discussions on which approach is the best for infectious complications are controversial.
Due to the rising antibiotic resistance rates worldwide, tackling further resistance development is essential. In this e-course, we will discuss the optimal way to overcome resistance development for prostate biopsy and underline the importance for antimicrobial stewardship (ABS).
