Explore the key principles of the successful treatment of Fournier’s gangrene (FG) — from infection management to surgical intervention — in this UROwebinar, organised by European School of Urology, the EAU Section of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, and the EAU Section of Infections in Urology.
FG is a rare, life-threatening, and necrotizing bacterial infection that affects the perineum, perianal region, and genitalia. Unfortunately, the knowledge of this disease and its standard of care is currently limited.
The FG data arises mostly from retrospective case series with small sample sizes. Furthermore, the prognosis, survival, and outcome of FG have not improved in recent years, despite more intensive critical-care therapy.
In this UROwebinar, the experts will discuss the cornerstones of successful treatment including the infectiological aspects. Additionally, they will focus on surgical management including complex adjunctive wound therapy, as well as reconstruction.
