Short Visit updated
For a duration up to 2 to 3 weeks, the Short Visit provides you with a first-rate learning experience at a centre of excellence in Europe.
This programme can be selected for the following types of visits:
- Clinical visit to gain knowledge about a specific procedure in a short period
- Preparation for a one-year scholarship, this can only be done in a Certified EUSP Host Centre
- Visiting Professor / Doctor, both the host and the visiting professor / doctor can apply
Who is eligible?
EAU members who have an active memebrship of at least one year prior to application. Nurses, researchers and scientists are also eligibly to apply for a short visit.
When the visit is a preparation for a one-year scholarship the applicant has to be author of 3 or more peer-reviewed international PubMed publications, wherein you are the first author of at least one of the publications.
How to apply
When you apply online, please include the following documents:
Clinical visit
- Curriculum Vitae
- Structured plan describing the activities and goals of the visit and a timeline (per day / week)
- Signed recommendation letter from a senior urologist from an institution in your country printed on the institution's letterhead paper
- Signed confirmation letter signed from the host centre's Chairman and/or Programme Director printed on the institution's letterhead paper. It is recommended to conduct the visit to a Certified EUSP Host Centre (view list).
Preparation one-year scholarship
- Curriculum Vitae
- List of your PubMed publication(s) with PubMed ID number(s)
- Motivation letter
- Structured plan describing the activities and goals of the visit and a timeline (per day / week)
- Signed recommendation letter from a senior urologist from an institution in your country printed on the institution's letterhead paper
- Signed confirmation letter signed from the host centre's Chairman and/or Programme Director printed on the institution's letterhead paper. It is mandatory to select a Certified EUSP Host Centre (view list).
Visiting professor / doctor
- Curriculum Vitae of the visiting professor / doctor
- Structured plan describing the activities and goals of the visit and a timeline (per day)
- Signed recommendation letter for visiting professor / doctor, from a senior urologist from an institution in your country printed on the institution's letterhead paper
- Confirmation letter signed by both the host centre and the visiting professor / doctor, printed on the host institution's letterhead paper.
Application review process
The EUSP Board will evaluate all applications and the outcome will be communicated to the candidates within 3 months after the application deadline. Please do not schedule your visit within this period; your application will automatically be rejected.
The EUSP Board’s decision is final and no further appeal will be accepted.
About the scholarship grant
A maximum grant of € 2,000 is allotted for each Short Visit. The grant will be transferred in 2 parts:
- 80% will be transferred approximately 1 month before the start date
- 20% will be transferred after the EUSP Board approves the final report and financial overview
Important deadlines
Every year, there are 3 deadline dates for the scholarship application: 1st of January, 1st of May, and 1st of September.
Reports
After the Short Visit, the scholar is required to present a report which should include the following:
- Clinical or scientific achievement
- Impressions of the host centre
- Evaluation of the provisions made by the host centre for the successful conduct of the project

Intellectual property and financial benefits
The regulations of the host centre will apply to the intellectual property and any financial benefits resulting from the research performed under the terms and conditions of this scholarship. All the publications must acknowledge the support of the EUSP.
