Assessing awareness of tropical urological diseases among European urologists
Help us evaluate and improve awareness of tropical urological diseases. Your insights are crucial in understanding current knowledge gaps and enhancing medical preparedness.
In 2018, the EAU Guidelines panel on Urological Infections published an article titled "Evaluation of insight into the diagnosis and management of tropical diseases among European urologists: Are we prepared to deal with mass migration? Results of an international survey (DOI: 10.1007/s00345-019-02957-7)" to assess the awareness of European urologists regarding infective urological diseases that are more prevalent in developing countries due to geographical and economic factors, such as tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, echinococcosis, etc.
As might be expected, the knowledge of these diseases among European urologists was generally found to be insufficient. Our aim now is to evaluate whether, after several years and in light of the continued increase in immigration, there has been a significant improvement in the integration of knowledge of these rare diseases into the cultural competence of the average European urologist.
