EAU Guidelines Office unveils Strategic Plan 2027-2030
The EAU Guidelines Office (GO) has published its Strategic Plan 2027-2030, outlining an ambitious vision for the future of guideline development, implementation and digital innovation in urology. Based on more than two decades of experience in producing internationally recognised clinical practice guidelines, the strategy sets out how the GO will continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of healthcare professionals, patients and healthcare systems worldwide.
As healthcare rapidly embraces digital technologies, artificial intelligence and new forms of evidence generation, clinicians increasingly expect guidance that is timely, accessible and integrated into everyday clinical practice. The new strategy reaffirms the GO's ambition to ensure that EAU Guidelines remain the most trusted, clinically relevant and impactful source of urological guidance internationally.
The Strategic Plan is built around five interconnected priorities:
- Methodology and Living Guideline Operations: advancing guideline methodology and introducing more responsive update processes in rapidly evolving clinical areas.
- Digital Products and Clinical Decision Support: expanding the EAU Guidelines App, decision support tools and other digital solutions that support clinical decision-making.
- Real-World Evidence and Data Ecosystems: strengthening the integration of high-quality real-world evidence into guideline development.
- Implementation Science, Uptake and Policy Impact: improving the translation of guideline recommendations into clinical practice and healthcare policy.
- Governance, Sustainability and Strategic Partnerships: ensuring the long-term integrity, sustainability and global reach of EAU Guidelines.
By 2030, the GO aims to deliver guidelines that are continuously updated, digitally accessible and increasingly embedded within clinical workflows, while maintaining the methodological excellence and transparency that underpin trust in EAU recommendations. The strategy also highlights the growing importance of patient-centred care, responsible innovation and international collaboration in improving outcomes for patients with urological conditions.
"The next four years represent an important opportunity for the EAU Guidelines programme," the document states. Building on its established position as a global leader in evidence-based urology guidance, the GO will focus on creating an integrated guidelines ecosystem that combines methodological excellence, digital innovation, implementation science and international collaboration.
