YAU Working Group Functional Urology
The YAU Functional Urology Working Group is a dynamic, multidisciplinary team of young and motivated clinician-scientists from across Europe. It's mission is to advance the field of functional urology by fostering international collaboration across centres worldwide and by integrating the expertise of researchers with diverse profiles and backgrounds.
The group focuses on the most pressing challenges in functional urology, including urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction, bladder outlet obstruction, pelvic organ prolapse, and bothersome lower urinary tract symptoms.
Actively shaping the research landscape, the YAU Functional Urology Working Group collaborates closely with several sections of the European Association of Urology (EAU), such as the EAU Section of Functional Urology, ensuring alignment with leading scientific and clinical standards.
Key ongoing projects
- Systematic reviews addressing unmet clinical needs in functional urology.
- Design of prospective multicentre studies and registries.
- Development of large multicentre databases on urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, and neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction.
- Incorporation of artificial intelligence into functional urology research and clinical practice
Through these initiatives, the group is building a strong foundation for innovation, aiming to translate cutting-edge research into tangible improvements in patient care and quality of life.
