YAU Working Group Sexual and Reproductive Health

The YAU Sexual and Reproductive Health Working Group is a young, dynamic, and highly motivated team of urologists and andrologists from different European countries, committed to advancing the fields of sexual medicine and male reproduction within the European Association of Urology (EAU).

Our aim

Since its inception, the group has experienced remarkable scientific growth, building a strong trajectory in collaborative research and producing numerous high-impact publications. As an active and highly specialized group, we collaborate across institutions and allied specialties with the aim of promoting high-quality research, education, and clinical innovation in andrology, sexual medicine, and reconstructive urology.

Research and development objectives

  • Pathophysiology, evaluation, and medical/surgical management of male sexual dysfunction, including erectile dysfunction and ejaculatory disorders.
  • Diagnostic pathways and advanced treatments for male infertility, encompassing fertility preservation and microsurgical techniques (e.g., micro-TESE, varicocelectomy).
  • Diagnosis, conservative therapies, and complex reconstructive surgery for Peyronie’s disease and congenital penile curvature.
  • Evaluation, management, and long-term functional outcomes of male hypogonadism and testosterone deficiency.
  • Uro-andrological emergencies, including the rapid management and long-term outcomes of priapism.
  • Surgical innovations in prosthetic urology, including penile prostheses implantation.
  • Sexual rehabilitation and survivorship following pelvic, oncological, and prostate surgeries.

Core activities

  • Conducting systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and large-scale collaborative multicentre clinical research (such as the international MARS registry for priapism).
  • Standardizing the clinical evaluation and evidence-based management of sexual and reproductive disorders in alignment with the EAU Guidelines.
  • Contributing expert reviews and accessible literature to the EAU Patient Information platform to improve patient education, shared decision-making, and health literacy.
  • Supporting the development and dissemination of structured training pathways in andrological microsurgery and reconstructive urology.
  • Promoting multicentre, international collaboration among early-career academic urologists and fostering multidisciplinary approaches.
  • Facilitating an environment that encourages scientific exchange, mentorship, and active participation in EAU, ESAU, and YAU research projects

We aim to grow our digital presence by sharing publications, educational initiatives, collaborative projects, and highlights from EAU and YAU events.
