EAU Robotic Urology Section
The EAU Robotic Urology Section (ERUS) is responsible for all that involves robotic urological surgery. Through regular meetings, masterclasses, and academic cooperation, the section brings together opinion leaders in the field of urologic surgery with a focus on robot-assisted surgery. ERUS aspires to be a frontrunner in surgical education and scientific input.
Mission
ERUS has as mission to join forces on national and European level and offer EAU members up-to-date robotic training programmes and lead scientific initiatives about robot-assisted surgery in Urology.

Ambition
ERUS aims to take the lead on a worldwide level in modernising surgical education. Due to higher complexity and constant introduction of new technologies along with less hands-on time and autonomy for the residents, we have to shift training towards Proficiency-Based Progression training. This will also shift surgical training from the operating theatre towards the training labs and this for medico-legal, ethical and cost-effective reasons. This should result in significantly less complication rates, safer surgery for the patients and cheaper surgery for the community.
What we do
ERUS organises regular scientific meetings to promote discussion and give demonstrations through live surgery sessions. These are annual section meetings, as well as, EBU-accredited masterclasses that offer training at various levels. We gather, exchange, and spread scientific information, and develop standards for robotic surgery training. As to hands-on training, different courses are organised at the Orsi Academy.
For who
This section is for urologists who are specialising in robotic surgery, on all levels. With our Junior ERUS session, participants under the age of 40 can familiarise themselves with the basics of robotic surgery before learning the complexities of the ever-changing subject.
ERUS Curriculum
As the role of robot-assisted surgery in urology is growing, the development of structured and validated training programmes is one of the main topics to be taken into consideration by the urologic community. The ERUS Robotic Curriculum offers a structured fellowship to allow a surgeon to perform a robot-assisted prostatectomy independently and effectively.
ORSI Trainee course
ORSI Academy offers a 5-Day Course in Robotic Urology for fellows, residents and surgeons with advanced robotic exposure who want to learn to perform a RARP independently and effectively. Proctored by top-experts Prof. Dr. Alex Mottrie & Dr. Stefano Puliatti, by live case observation, Hands-on, Simulation, Video, Cadaver and Lectures on-site.
