The EAU Section of Infections in Urology (ESIU) aims to encourage research, improve preventive measures and optimise treatment for acute or chronic, community acquired and hospital acquired (nosocomial) urogenital infections.
The ESIU promotes research and evidence synthesis for the diagnosis and treatment of infections and inflammations in the urinary tract and male genital system. It acts to stimulate prospective studies and the formulation of guidelines based on best evidence. The ESIU encourages a pan-European perspective by organising scientific sessions and discussion forums at national and international meetings. It also initiates a key annual study of global prevalence and clinical treatment of urinary tract infection; the Global Prevalence Study on Infections in Urology (GPIU), in which you are encouraged to join.
