EAU Section of Outpatient and Office Urology

The EAU Outpatient (EAU Section of Outpatient and Office Urology) aims to address core issues that affect and interest urologists who predominantly treat outpatients as part of their professional profile. This field of urological work has been somewhat underrepresented in European urology until recently.

Background / who we are

The EAU Section of Outpatient and Office Urology was formed to focus on the specific needs and challenges faced by urologists who primarily treat outpatients. This subspecialty encompasses a variety of urological practices, including diagnostic procedures, medical treatments, and minimally invasive interventions performed outside the traditional hospital setting. Historically, outpatient urology had been underrepresented on the global urology map. The experts in this section are diverse, consisting of self-employed urologists, academic urologists, those employed by medical centers, and those who balance both roles. Their collective expertise and experience are crucial for advancing outpatient urology practices.

For whom

The ESUO’s activities are meant to serve all outpatient and office urologists, including non-EAU members. We also welcome urologists from out-patient departments of clinics, resident doctors who are urologists-in-training, and career urologists with a deep interest in office urology.

What we do / Our activities

The EAU Outpatient aims to:

  • Define issues related to office urologists’ scientific and clinical interests
  • Create a network of office urologists across Europe
  • Collaborate with national associations and affiliated groups with regard to issues affecting office urology
  • Examine the working conditions (features and organisation) of office urologists in Europe to clearly define the scope of office urology and enable the planning of relevant activities
  • Offer courses on relevant issues during the Annual EAU Congress and in other EAU-organised meetings in close cooperation with other EAU Sections
  • Collaborating with scientific organisations in European countries in national meetings
  • Participate in the EAU’s e-learning activities such as webinars, podcasts, and e-courses to cater to the needs of office urologists who prefer home-based education.
  • Continue the regular column in the European Urology Today membership newsletter
  • Provide literature and slide service to office urologists focusing particularly on research outcomes directly related to their specialty, and
  • Offering participation in own scientific studies focusing the outpatient care
