EAU Section of Urological Research
The EAU Section of Urological Research aims to promote basic and clinical research in the field of urology. We serve as a platform for researchers from various disciplines to enhance the coordination of basic and translational urological research, as both are fundamental for advancing our understanding of biological mechanisms underlying diseases, which can ultimately improve patients’ care.
Who we are
Initially an independent organisation focused on malignant diseases, the European Society for Urological Oncology and Endocrinology (ESUOE) became an EAU Section, known as ESUR. Today, it spans basic and translational research across all urological subfields, with members including biologists, oncologists, immunologists, epidemiologists, and clinical urologists, specialising in cancers, benign diseases, organ function, immune and infectious disorders, reproductive health, and infertility.

For whom
EAU members interested in urological research, in different stages of their careers and with different academic backgrounds and professional activities, will find value in participating in our activities.
What we do
The EAU’s research section promotes scientific dissemination in urological research by organising several scientific events, including stand-alone and joint sessions at the Annual EAU Congress, and the European School of Urology’s (ESU) UroWebinars that also are a resource for research information to basic and translational researchers and urologists.
We participate in educational ESU programmes, and in the European Urological Scholarship Programme (EUSP), with several labs of the research section’s board and associate members acting as host centres for EUSP visits. The section also collaborates with the EAU Research Foundation to facilitate and stimulate clinical and basic research in European urology.
With over 20 years of expertise in advancing clinically relevant discoveries, the EAU research section serves as a global platform for collaboration and career development in basic, translational, and clinical urological research.
How to Contribute
Share your ideas for groundbreaking research projects or strategies to enhance the dissemination of urological research. If you are planning to apply for a research grant or to organise scientific events or educational programmes in the field, be sure reach out to explore opportunities for collaboration.
