It frequently co-occurs with- and is bi-directionally linked to- cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders, among others. Yet despite this scale and a cost of €69.1 billion in 2023, continence health remains invisible in major EU policy frameworks, including the EU NCD Initiative, Europe's Beating Cancer Plan, and the EU4Health Programme.

Under the umbrella of the MEP Interest Group on Continence Health, this event aims to give voice to patients and healthcare professionals on what it means to live with UI alongside another serious health condition, and to build the political momentum needed to formally recognise incontinence as an NCD comorbidity deserving of dedicated policy attention and additional diagnostic and therapeutic planning to reduce the economic burden.
