PROTEUS trial and high risk PCa: Prof. Taplin discusses the results with Dr. Marra
In this episode, UROONCO PCa chief editor Dr. Giancarlo Marra interviews Prof. Mary-Ellen Taplin from Dana–Farber Cancer Institute in the United States, on the results of the PROTEUS trial. The PROTEUS trial is a phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluating the benefit of adding apalutamide to standard androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in men with high-risk, localised prostate cancer undergoing radical prostatectomy.
They discuss the rationale, patient selection and the results of this trial (dual primary endpoint), as well as the impact of the results on clinical practice. Prof. Taplin concludes in the take-home messages that this trial has illustrated the progress being made in regard to preventing and delaying relapse.
