The history of the use of electricity in urology
This podcast episode is the first in a series by the EAU’s History Office. Its chair, Prof. Philip Van Kerrebroeck (BE) is interviewed by EAU Editor and historian Mr. Loek Keizer (NL) about how electricity has been used for centuries to treat urological conditions.
From natural sources in ancient times, to generated power and its effects on the body to the current state of neuromodulation, find out from one of its experts how our understanding and applications of electricity have developed.
This podcast was recorded in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, on the occasion of the annual EAU Meets National Societies Meeting. Its contents are based on a presentation first given at the History Office’s Fall Meeting in Leiden in October 2024.
