This is the final episode of the new UROwebinar series “Prostate Cancer Screening: PRAISE-U training toolbox” organised by the European School of Urology, the EAU Policy Office, and the PRAISE-U Consortium. The introduction will offer a summary of the previous episode.
This UROwebinar will:
· -- Examine the importance of population-wide prostate cancer (PCa) screening;
· -Focus on initiatives such as PRAISE-U, organised PCa testing (OPT), and the EUCanScreen which are aimed at improving screening accessibility;
· -Address key barriers and explore opportunities in advancing population-based screening programmes across diverse healthcare systems in Europe.
The experts will discuss the challenges of implementing large-scale screening programmes such as disparities in healthcare access, infrastructure limitations, and public acceptance.
A dedicated presentation will address the criticisms of population-based screening, highlighting both the potential benefits and drawbacks of widespread implementation.
Additionally, the UROwebinar will examine strategies to overcome barriers and enhance screening effectiveness, such as integrating MRI and genetic testing, optimising healthcare resources, and fostering cross-border collaboration in Europe.
The discussions will cover how initiatives such as PRAISE-U are advancing standardised, evidence-based screening approaches, and the role of EU-wide programmes in shaping the future of PCa screening.
