The EAU and ESU (European School of Urology) reached a major milestone this year, with EAU Podcasts surpassing over 200,000 downloads worldwide. Launched in 2021, the podcasting initiative was designed to complement traditional educational formats, providing expert discussions and multidisciplinary perspectives of scientific updates, news from international urology meetings, and disseminating EAU Guidelines.

Accord to authors of the paper, listeners tune in from 193 different countries, with the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Italy and Australia having the most listeners. These statistics demonstrate the broad international appeal of EAU Podcasts.

The research also highlighted remarkable annual growth in listener engagement. Downloads increased from just over 12,000 in 2021, to more than 52,000 in 2024, with strong engagement continuing throughout 2025 and 2026.

The authors noted that podcasts have become an increasingly valuable educational tool due to their accessibility, flexibility and time efficiency. Clinicians can listen to content while commuting, travelling, or even exercising, allowing learning to fit more easily into their busy schedules. It was also noted that the conversational format may support knowledge retention by combining expert insight with practical clinical discussions.

As digital education continues to evolve, EAU Podcasts demonstrate how innovative educational platforms can support global collaboration as well, knowledge sharing and equitable access to high-quality urological education worldwide.

Looking ahead, EAU Podcasts aim to continue expanding through new initiatives, including the recent addition of journal club discussions, EAU Guideline update summaries, as well as increased collaboration with EAU Sections and subspecialties.
