This year's recipients of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine are developmental biologist Victor Ambros and molecular biologist Gary Ruvkun. Their research led to the discovery of the fundamental principle that governs gene regulation, which showed an important role of microRNAs.
The vital activity of microRNAs has been widely studied in human tumours, with their potential application for the early diagnosis of relapses yielding unexpected results in patients with genitourinary tumours.
The presenters will introduce the state-of-the-art biomarkers and the clinical application of microRNAs in the management and follow-up of renal, prostate, and germ-cell tumours.
