Record-setting attendance anticipated for ERUS26 in Padua

Initial figures show that well over 1200 participants from all around the world will be descending on Padua on 9-11 September for the 23rd EAU Robotic Urology Section meeting (ERUS26). This is a notable rise compared to last year’s record-setting number participants in London, at just under 1200. This makes ERUS one of the most-attended EAU events, after the Annual Congress. This figure includes all registered delegates, faculty, and exhibitors attending the meeting.

Around a quarter of these participants are Italian, a strong local presence reflecting the large number of robotic centres in Italy. ERUS Chair Prof. Alberto Breda is based in Barcelona but considers himself a proud Padua native and was extremely pleased with the turn-out in his hometown:

“My congratulations and compliments to our local host, Prof. Fabrizio Dal Moro, and all of the people working behind the scenes to achieve this milestone. This will be a very special edition of ERUS for everyone involved.”

Scientific Programme

Over the coming days, the meeting’s scientific programme will be bringing the very latest in robotic urology, from the newest systems, surgical techniques, indications and a lot of technological innovations.

A major development that is reaching maturity at this meeting is the amount of telesurgical cases featured. With surgeons in Padua, patients will be operated on in Warsaw, Athens, Kuwait, Aalst, Tashkent, Casablanca and Gran Canaria. In addition, a case will be live transmitted with a surgeon in London and a patient in Gibraltar, bringing the number of telesurgical cases to eight. This is a significant portion of the 50 live surgical cases across 11 sessions.

The meeting also features four courses by the European School of Urology, a Technology Forum, and special programmes for Young Academic Urologists and Robotic Urology Nurses. You can read reports and interviews straight from Padua over the coming days on the ERUS26 website or follow our coverage on social media.
