ICE26: EAU's Endourology Section nearly ready to welcome delegates to Valencia
We spoke to Prof. Bhaskar Somani (GB), research chair and board member of the EAU Endourology Section and closely involved in drawing up the scientific programme for this new edition of the International Conference on Endourology.
Last year was a great success, we welcomed over 1000 participants to the very first edition of our Section’s International Conference on Endourology, ICE25. We are slightly tweaking the format but we are certainly continuing with the emphasis on long-form abstract sessions. In contrast with other academic meetings, each abstract presenter will have up to 15 minutes to present and discuss their research, we feel this makes it more engaging for the audience and the researchers alike.
The best abstracts will be selected for two special highlights sessions. On the final day of ICE26 we will also be honouring the best researcher, the best teacher, the most significant contribution to endourology and a lifetime achievement award from the Endourology Section.
Full scientific programme
Delegates can expect a full scientific programme in which we examine a wide variety of topics related to endourology. We will have demonstrations and discussions on hot topics like suction and intrarenal pressure. The latest generation of scopes and better monitoring devices. Innovations in imaging and AI, laser settings and new parameters.
Giant of the Day
This year, we start each conference day with a “Giant of the Day” lecture. These are senior endourologists who have careers of several decades and can share a lot on a topic from personal experience. By listening to their talks, the audience will understand the journey of our field, and hopefully also get a glimpse of the future.
On the first day, Dr. Mahesh Desai from Gujarat, India will share his experience with PCNL, followed by Prof. Michael Grasso of New York on RIRS and laser use, and on the final day we start with Prof. Peter Gilling from Tauranga, New Zealand, sharing his experience with HoLEP. We hope these lectures will inspire our audience and set them up for a full day.
The Titans
Following on from last year, we will have two sessions with a competitive element, the “Best Endourologist 2026 – Clash of the Titans” sessions. Competitors from five continents will be challenged to prepare a presentation on a secret topic. This year, we have two urologists from each part of the world, operating as a team. This makes it a bit more collaborative for them rather than standing in the spotlight completely alone.
