ESGURS-ESAU25: Reconstructive and andrological meeting to be hosted in Turin
“Delegates can expect a scientific programme that balances andrological and reconstructive urological topics, and particularly where the two overlap,” says Dr. Marco Falcone (Turin, IT) on behalf of the ESGURS-ESAU25 local organising committee.
The Piedmontese capital will host the joint annual meeting of the EAU Sections of Reconstruction and Andrology on 2-3 October 2025. Live surgery will be performed at the University of Turin’s Molinette Hospital and transmitted to the meeting’s venue, the similarly centrally located Lingotto Congress Centre. Dr. Falcone and Prof. Paolo Gontero’s urology department are making all necessary preparations to host ESGURS-ESAU25, including a full programme of live surgery.

Scientific Programme Highlights
The two-day scientific programme strikes a balance between andrological and reconstructive topics, and will also be held in two parallel sessions, one featuring live and pre-recorded surgical demonstrations, the other with expert lectures, debates and educational content. Simultaneously, Turin will also be hosting the ESU Masterclass on Erectile restoration and Peyronie’s disease, registration for which is open until 30 June.
Major topics to be covered in the programme include erectile dysfunction implants, urinary incontinence, urethral reconstruction female reconstruction and transgender reconstruction.
Dr. Falcone: “These procedures are increasingly being performed robotically, something we will be demonstrating as part of the live surgery. New procedures that we have been working on will be demonstrated as well, such as renervation, or reconstruction of the nerves after injury from prostatectomy. We’re running a trial with this new technique in our department and we will present preliminary data at the meeting.”

Pioneering single-port robotic surgery in Europe
Notably, Molinette Hospital was one of the first to acquire the Intuitive da Vinci SP system once it received EU approval in January of 2024. Its experienced surgeons have been using the innovative single-port system to develop new surgical techniques, including those for reconstructive urology.
“The SP has given us new approaches for reconstructive surgery, given its unique ability to operate in smaller spaces in the body particularly using the extraperitoneal route. This could be a game changer, and the American experience already shows that we’re headed in the right direction,” says Prof. Gontero.
“Our department received one of the first of ten or perhaps fifteen SP systems in Europe thus allowing us to explore its adoption in new techniques and indications that we will be showing at ESGURS-ESAU25.”

Turin
Turin, located in the northwest of Italy close to the border with France, is a major city with a history of culture, education and innovation. Dr. Falcone looks forward to sharing the regions foods and wines with the meeting participants.
Aside from its clear qualities and charms as a picturesque destination, it is also Turin’s storied medical history that makes it a suitable host for the ESGURS-ESAU25 meeting. Dr. Falcone: “We have been pioneering surgical procedures for decades in Turin. In fact, the first penile implant in Italy was performed here, now around sixty years ago by Prof. Fontana. Over the past decades we have built up this department and hosting this meeting will be another proud highlight in our history.”
- Registration is currently open for ESGURS-ESAU25. The early fee is available until July 3rd, so don’t miss out!
